From time to time i get insomnia, where i can’t get to sleep for the whole night and my eyes will water continously, thus disturbing my sleep even further.
Last night this happened to me, causing me to have a HUGE banging headache when i woke up.
I would really like to know why i get this from time to time? I’m 15 years old if this helps.
thanks

You’re pretty young, I’d suggest talking to a parent and visit your doctor to find the root of your issue.
Try to correct it now so that it will not affect the rest of your life if that’s possible!
Try to relax and shut your mind off, that is the main problem I have when I can’t sleep, I’m thinking too much. One other thing can be if you nap at all during the day, fight it and you should have a better chance to sleep at night!
Good luck sweetie!

what are some signs of insomnia….other than not being able to sleep?
Chosen Answer:
Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep (initial insomnia) or staying asleep (middle insomnia) or by early awakening with an inability to go back to sleep (terminal insomnia). A sleep disorder such as insomnia can lead to daytime drowsiness, reduced concentration, and a lack of feeling refreshed or rested upon awakening. You can start falling asleep while doing something like driving. Insomnia can be caused by ordinary stress and anxiety or secondary by depression. 50% of the population experiences it a one time or another. 10% have chronic insomnia.

I don’t know how to figure out if I have depression. I can feel content one minute and it’s almost like a switch. I start to feel so down and it can last for hours sometimes days. I don’t think I could ever commit suicide, but sometimes I wish I would just die. I know I should go to a doctor but I am affraid if I tell anyone how I am feeling, I will be commited. Can anyone relate or help me.
Chosen Answer:
I would suggest not seeing a doctor, because you are right, they’ll immediately just perscribe you some SSRI without getting to the root of the problem.
I would suggest seeing a counseller or therapist first, maybe even just for one visit, so that you can tell them what you are feeling, and they can recommend a good course of action.
Also, have a look at official diagnosis guidelines for depression:
Diagnostic Criteria: Dysthymic disorder
1. Depressed mood for most of the day, for more days than not, as indicated either by subjective account or observation by others, for at least 2 years. Note: In children and adolescents, mood can be irritable and duration must be at least 1 year.
2. Presence, while depressed, of two (or more) of the following:
a. poor appetite or overeating
b. insomnia or hypersomnia
c. low energy or fatigue
d. low self-esteem
e. poor concentration or difficulty making decisions
f. feelings of hopelessness
3.
During the 2-year period (1 year for children or adolescents) of the disturbance, the person has never been without the symptoms in Criteria A and B for more than 2 months at a time.
*****The symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.******
I hope that helps!

I suffered from anxiety last month.
It had nothing to do with school, but ever since, I’ve been feeling anxious the evening before I have school for no apparent reason. So, it’s only on Saturdays that I have a relaxed day without worry. Why is this? Is it anxiety? Should I talk to my parents about it? Like, I’ve told them I sometimes feel anxious, but should I tell them I’m concerned about it?
(I’m 13 years old.)
Chosen Answer:
Yes, I agree. You should tell your parents. As a person with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), not treating your anxious feelings (however severe) will only exacerbate them. There are anti-anxiety medications like benzodiazepines such as alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), and lorazepam (Ativan). I take a medication called hydroxyzine (Vistaril). It helps with the nauseous feelings I get when I am anxious.
Anxiety is your body’s reaction to stress. Sometimes you may feel anxious with no apparent reason. Anxiety can lead to panic attacks and those with treatment can be managed.
When I feel anxious I do the following:
+ I talk to a friend (especially one who has anxiety)
+ I write in a journal or blog
+ I concentrate on all of my worrying thoughts and focus on just worrying until I can’t think up anymore reasons to be nervous about something
+ If I have an anxious thought I say, “Stop!” out loud to help me recognize the thoughts so they don’t keep tossing in my head
+ I do breathing exercises (inhale for seven, exhale for eleven)
+ I sing aloud
Learn the triggers to your anxiety if you can. I find that preparation lessens my anxiety. I:
+ make sure I’m early to class, work, and all my appointments
+ I schedule everything in a planner
+ I think at least a day ahead, but not so far ahead that I begin to worry about the future
I know having anxiety can be scary sometimes, but you’re not alone and if you ever need to talk or have questions you can message me.
Take care, dear.

Does anyone here have diagnosed anxiety disorders? Do you know any support groups? Have you recovered/improved and how? I have generalized anxiety, panic, and OCD. I’m doing cognitive therapy, but I know having someone understanding would help a great deal. Thanks for any advice.
By the way, I’m in my late twenties and have had anxiety since I can remember (around age 4 or 5).
Chosen Answer:
I do… I am battling it every day. It is so hard… and I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it! I have a great doctor, so she helps some. I hear going to a conslr. can help, but i feel uncomfortable with that, just isn’t for me. There are lots of online support groups. I think ivillage can be a great resource. Even things like drinking herbal tea, getting sunshine, getting “pampered” at a spa could help. Yoga and meditation have helped me. Also, email me
I’d love to chat!

I’ve been depressed a lot lately and was wondering if it could damage my health. I know that depression causes emotional and physical problems, but I was just wondering if it puts me at risk for other stuff too. Like cancer, heart problems, etc. Anyone know?
Chosen Answer:
First do not go to a doctor because they classified depression a disease , they are required by law to treat it with pills , OK the pills only treat the symptoms not the cause , and when you stop taking the meds, you have more problems ,you should go talk to a mental health specialist and tell them to help you find the problem causing the depression ,and help you find a solution , and help you find ways to deal with the problems, and find a resolution without medication..my girlfriend was unable to deal with life’s problems (diagnosed with borderline personality disorder) which means she never dealt with her problems just kept them bottled up …she did the therapy(( instead of the medication as recommended by so many doctors)) ..she is 100% better in less than6 months versus two or more years buying and taking medications ….all you need to do if you can not do it alone is get help( therapist) to find the problem..not treat the symptoms ..hope this helps some .. good luck ..((doctor’s can only treat with a prescription medication it is required by law)) so save your sanity and your health and use alternative treatments depression is not the end of life ..it is an obstacle as a result of not being able to properly cope with certain problems that lead up to the state of being depressed….Ask a therapist or alternative medicine doctor , a medical doctor will say you need a pill because they have to ….I know based on experience of dealing with my girlfriend of 10 years who who had depression.

If you have insomnia what do you do to help you sleep?
Chosen Answer:
Getting sleep in the correct quantities is a vital part of staying healthy. You don’t have to rely on a chemical insomnia sleep aid to do it either. Consider using the Sleep So Good cream to get some all natural relief.
